The Lansing Regional SmartZone is #LoveLansing's go-to hub for all things innovation and creativity. In this past year alone, they helped spur growth through the creation of 32 new companies, raised $4 million in public and private funds, provided support services to 131 businesses, and unveiled a podcast studio tenants can use. Michigan State University's left-handed pitcher Nick Powers is “pitching in” to support athletes with special needs by donating a portion of his name, image, and likeness (NIL) earnings to the Miracle League of Mid-Michigan.

Thanks to his NIL contract powered by Charitable Gift America, the senior pitcher hopes to contribute to the growth of the program, and potentially the addition of a new dugout and bleachers at the barrier-free ballpark located in DeWitt Township. #TeamMoonsail's cheering on this win-win!

Every year, Michigan State University hosts Give Green Day in March, which aims to support various funds benefitting the local community and beyond. On Aug. 25, the Michigan Court of Appeals (COA) ruled in favor of auto accident victims across the state and voted against the retroactive application of no-fault reforms. In Ellen M Andary V USAA Casualty Insurance Company, the appeals panel found that any survivor who was injured prior to the 2019 reform law is still entitled to the lifetime, unlimited coverage they paid for. While this momentous decision works to restore life-saving care for thousands of survivors, anyone who has been injured after the reforms or in the future is not protected.
