Following the success of Fair Food Network’s Double Up Food Bucks Awareness Month events in May to connect more people with healthy food options, the nonprofit added more events in August to keep the momentum going.

Several outlets, including the Metro Times, Michigan Advance, WLNS 6 News, WKAR Public Radio, and Argus-Press covered the community benefit events.

Our friends at LAN are celebrating a century of LANdings! 

To mark this momentous milestone, #TeamMoonsail developed a special anniversary logo to honor the legacy of flight and future innovations in flying, as well as designing and coordinating an entire catalogue of commemorative promotional items, from T-shirts and wristbands to coins and baseballs.

Michigan families are facing rising electric bills, and our friends at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) are taking action.

Moonsail North recently supported NRDC, along with their partners Evergreen Action, at a press conference in Detroit, where Attorney General Dana Nessel and other advocates called for immediate reforms that could save the average Michigan household nearly $800 on electricity between 2027 and 2030.

We’re looking forward to working with NRDC on other important initiatives in the coming weeks!

Congrats to our friends at Kidango, who recently beautified their Ravenswood campus, their first child care center in San Mateo County, California, that will serve 300 children ages 0 to 5 once it opens.

As part of a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service event, Kidango staff planted trees to create a greener, healthier space for children to grow.

“When we nurture children with care, dignity, and love, we change the world,” said Scott Moore, CEO of Kidango. “These trees that we plant today, as they take root in the soil, represent all of our commitment to a better world.”

Learn more about the “green gap” — a lower percentage of tree coverage in lower-income areas compared to more affluent neighboring communities — and why centering “tree equity” at a child care center supports a healthier start to life.

The Lansing Regional SmartZone is #LoveLansing's go-to hub for all things innovation and creativity. In this past year alone, they helped spur growth through the creation of 32 new companies, raised $4 million in public and private funds, provided support services to 131 businesses, and unveiled a podcast studio tenants can use. Michigan State University's left-handed pitcher Nick Powers is “pitching in” to support athletes with special needs by donating a portion of his name, image, and likeness (NIL) earnings to the Miracle League of Mid-Michigan.

Thanks to his NIL contract powered by Charitable Gift America, the senior pitcher hopes to contribute to the growth of the program, and potentially the addition of a new dugout and bleachers at the barrier-free ballpark located in DeWitt Township. #TeamMoonsail's cheering on this win-win!

On Aug. 25, the Michigan Court of Appeals (COA) ruled in favor of auto accident victims across the state and voted against the retroactive application of no-fault reforms. In Ellen M Andary V USAA Casualty Insurance Company, the appeals panel found that any survivor who was injured prior to the 2019 reform law is still entitled to the lifetime, unlimited coverage they paid for. While this momentous decision works to restore life-saving care for thousands of survivors, anyone who has been injured after the reforms or in the future is not protected.
