“The days are long, but the years are short.” Gretchen Rubin’s quote about living holds true for agency life. Entire weeks, months and seasons can go by in a flash as a marketing communications and branding team immersed in client projects. If you’ve been with us from the beginning and can’t believe how fast it’s gone, please know that #TeamMoonsail can’t believe it either.

We couldn’t let the occasion go without finding a branded way to celebrate, and we’re excited today to reveal our brand refresh to mark our journey as a team and an agency. Read more about how our team experiences our new color palette and what we’re signaling with the update.

October 2018

#TeamMoonsail was proud to support a statewide poll of 800 likely Michigan voters commissioned by CPAN — the Coalition Protecting Auto No-Fault. The results of the poll revealed that nearly 8 in 10 Michiganders do not believe their insurance company wants to save them money, and nearly two-thirds reject any plan to limit or eliminate medical benefits for accident victims. In fact, most residents in Michigan blame the high auto insurance rates on the state's lack of oversight and overcharging by insurance companies. We're thrilled to find that most Michigan voters support the bipartisan package of bills CPAN has been trying to get the Michigan legislature to consider for over a year.

August 2018

This month, Sparrow Health System commemorated one year since the opening of the Herbert-Herman Cancer Center. The center has opened new doors in the fight against cancer and elevated the care that Sparrow provides to over 70,000 patients per year. It offers one of the largest clinical trial programs and the most advanced radiation technology in the region. #TeamMoonsail contributed to the outreach around the opening of this center and has loved watching it grow and thrive since!

#TeamMoonsail is so excited to welcome Brianna Baker, who was part of the Moonsail North team as one of our first interns in 2015, and is now joining full-time as our Client Experience Specialist. Bri is a Michigan State University alumna with a degree in Advertising and Public Relations. She brings a wealth of experience in PR and client relationship management to #TeamMoonsail, but what we're most excited about is having her creative vision and innovative approach back at our HQ.

Bri recognizes the importance of human connection and enjoys learning the nuances and complexities each client brings to the table. In her free time Bri can be found attempting a new DIY project she likely found on Pinterest (not unlike the amazing, branded succulent she made, above!), exploring the beautiful state of Michigan with friends and family, (over)indulging in ice cream or giving her heart to the community through volunteering.

PR Week, a publication that public relations professionals look to for news and analysis about issues around the world, reached out to Moonsail North's co-founder, Rose, last week to discuss Facebook's PR crisis. See what Rose had to say about Mark Zuckerberg, the face of the platform that's become a household name around the world. #Teammoonsail is monitoring this situation closely to report to clients about how details that are emerging affect them.

Instagram is growing at a rapid pace. The latest report from the company says that 800 million users engage with the platform on at least a monthly basis, and 500 million use it on a daily basis. With the constant updates to the platform, such as the recent addition of polling stickers, Shopify integration and improved comment controls, the fast growth is not surprising. Recently included in those 800 million users are Sparrow Health System and Michigan State University's College of Natural Science. Follow their accounts for innovative visual storytelling!

#TeamMoonsail's Katie attended the Facebook Leadership Communications Summit in February at Facebook headquarters. She not only met communicators from across the globe, but also gained knowledge about the social platforms she utilizes most as a communications specialist. Congrats to superstar client Nourished World on wrapping up their first Supercharge with Superfoods: A 21 day Holistic Healthy Living Challenge. Over 44 people from around the country (and even internationally!) joined this virtual challenge, which covered physical, mental and emotional well-being. Co-owner Sarah Birney kept participants motivated to integrate superfoods into their daily meals through a fantastic use of Facebook Live videos every day, where she gave sage health coaching advice and outlined a daily challenge – from self-care to healthy eating, exercise to creating organized physical space, limiting beliefs, affirmations, and more!

As a distributed team, we always look for fun ways to stay connected – and what better way to do that during the holidays than with a virtual ugly Christmas sweater party? Scott was off catching Pokémon, so his ugly Christmas t-shirt is all that could make it to the party (he was actually feeling under the weather). We shared our holiday traditions and reflections on a great year of growth for #TeamMoonsail! (Look out for a blog in January about why appear.in is our favorite video conferencing app.)

On Oct. 27, Twitter announced it's shutting down the video-sharing service Vine "in the coming months." Vine allows users to share 6-second video clips. With prominent platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat allowing users to post videos and Stories, Vine failed to protect itself from competitors.
